Match the RV to the Trip

Montana travel can mean interstate miles, mountain grades, windy plains, national-park campgrounds and primitive roads. There is no single best RV for every Montana trip. A useful choice starts with where you want to go and how long you plan to stay.

Travel trailers offer broad price and floorplan choices. Fifth wheels provide generous living space but require a properly equipped pickup. Truck campers keep the overall combination compact. Class B and Class C motorhomes simplify setup, while Class A coaches emphasize living space.

Before buying, compare loaded weight, overall length, ground clearance, insulation, tank capacity and battery or solar capability. For national parks and older campgrounds, verify site-length restrictions instead of assuming every site fits every RV.
